The Houston County Board of Education named Markeeta Clayton the principal of Northside High School during the Board meeting held on April 13, 2021. Clayton last served at Baldwin High as an assistant principal.
Clayton said, “It is an honor to be chosen as the principal of Northside High School, an educational institution with long lasting traditions."
Clayton has worked in education for 20 years. She began her career in education as a high school science teacher in 2000.
Clayton has earned a Bachelor of Science and Biology with a Minor in Chemistry from Georgia College and State University and a Master of Public Health from Mercer University School of Medicine. In addition, she has two specialist degrees in Middle Grades Education and Educational Leadership, both from Georgia College and State University.
“I believe that if you do what you love, you’ll never work a day in your life,” remarked Clayton. “My focus and vision are student achievement and college and career readiness.”
Her husband of 21 years is Malcolm Clayton, Sr. They have two sons - Malcolm, Jr., 19, and Michael, 14. The Clayton family is excited about becoming a part of the Houston County community.
