Bio
Ms. Lowery grew up in Columbia, South Carolina where she graduated from W.J. Kennan High School and earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English Teaching from Benedict College, an HBCU founded in 1870. After becoming a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. and graduating with honors and Magna Cum Laude, she went on to pursue a career in education in the Saluda County and Fairfield County school systems in South Carolina. In 2005, she earned the title of Teacher of the Year (Fairfield Central High School) and gained experience as an adjunct instructor at the middle school and adult education program. During this time, she pursued and earned her Masters of Education Leadership (2007), and then obtained an Advanced Graduate Studies Specialist Degree in Curriculum & Instruction (2009) from Cambridge College in Boston, Massachusetts.
In 2007, Ms. Lowery relocated to Warner Robins, GA where she landed a position at Northside High School teaching English in the Tabor 9th grade Academy. Between 2010 and 2011, she taught in Twiggs County, but came back to her family at Northside in 2012. Since then, she has been actively involved in various aspects of the school as a tutor for all students (but especially athletes), Freshman Class Sponsor, Better Seeking and Leadership Team member, SACS Committee co-chair, Course Team leader, and Teacher Support Coach.
In the community, she has operated a summer enrichment program through her church for children in grades Pre-K through 8, and fostered a relationship with a mentoring program (founded by a Northside graduate) to provide guidance to teens preparing to enter the global society. One day when or before she retires, Ms. Lowery plans to start a program geared towards helping young people learn the skills they need to be successful.
In her class, the rules are simple if you want to be successful: BE RESPECTFUL , RESPONSIBLE, AND READY.
