FCCLA - Family Career Community Leaders of America

FCCLA has a national student membership of 230,000 young men and women.  There are 53 state associations, including the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands.  There are over 10,000 local chapters. 

FCCLA is open to all students enrolled in CTAE classes. 

Mission: To promote personal growth and leadership development through family and consumer sciences education. 

During training students develop the following skills:

  1. Character development
  2. Creative and critical thinking
  3. Interpersonal communication
  4. Practical knowledge
  5. Career and technical skills

Purpose for the organization:

  1. To provide opportunities for personal development and preparation for adult life
  2. To strengthen the function of the family as a unit of society
  3. To encourage democracy through cooperative action in the home and community
  4. To encourage individual and group involvement in helping achieve global cooperation and harmony
  5. To provide opportunities for making decisions and for assuming responsibilities 
  6. To prepare for the multiple roles of men and women in society
  7. To promote family consumer sciences and related occupations
